The calendar in February is richly laden with events: from carnivals to artisan fairs, there is something to entice anyone and plenty of opportunities to experience something special with your loved ones. The Feast of Saint Agatha (February 3rd- February 5th):

From February 3rd to February 5th, one of the largest processions in the world takes place in Catania. The patron saint’s statue, a 40,000 pound silver carriage requiring 5000 men, tours all the neighbouring towns and villages. The three days are filled with festivities with food, wine and music taking place throughout the streets of the city.

Each year Viareggio, a Tuscan seaside town, holds the region’s most important carnival. Taking place on five consecutive weekends (February 5th, 12th, 18th, 26th & 25th), the town embraces the carnival spirit, masquerading in costume, whilst parading a collection of handmade floats up and down the broad walk.

This year the annual chocolate fair will greet the streets of Florence with its mouth-watering curation of chocolates for the 13th consecutive year.  Take these few days as an excuse to greet yourself the historic streets of Florence, and get your hands dirty with an all immersive experience of chocolate, from simply the way it tastes, smells, feels and sounds. Enjoy the benefits of cooking class where you have the chance to learn the various ways to utilize chocolate around the kitchen, or better yet for those determined to relax, why not simply sit back and let your taste buds do all the work.

Carnevale di Venezia (February 11th– February 28th):

This year’s carnival falls later then previous years, however not to worry as the event will be as grand and magical as per.  The annual carnival merges the past and the present, summoning for two weeks a series of events and activities around the canals of Venice.  Returning to historic traditions and celebrations, you can expect to find events ranging from religious processions, to masked balls, all meticulously crafted to make your dreams of finding magic come true. As magical as it sounds on paper, why not partake in this annual treasure and live a few days of magic?

Sangra del Mandorlo in Fiore:


Originally, the Almond blossom festival was invented by the Sicilians to grace the new planting season. It now has however escalated to becoming an international recognized event, which lasts from the 12th of February to the 22nd of February. Agrigento, known for its UNESCO world heritage valley of temples, is the location for this annual festival, and apart from the festival it further has to offer many beautiful sceneries and sites, along with local food and wine.
